How to Tell if Someone Has Lupus
Lupus is an autoimmune disease that can cause inflammation and many symptoms. Lupus affects people differently. Some will experience few mild symptoms while others can experience many severe symptoms. Usually, symptoms start to show in early adulthood within teenage years and twenties. Lupus patients experience flare-ups and then remission. This makes most people dismiss early symptoms. Early symptoms of lupus are similar to those of other diseases. Having early symptoms doesn’t mean that one has lupus. Some of the early symptoms are:
- Kidney problems
- Swollen joints
- Thyroid problems
- Hair loss
- Pulmonary problems
- Gastrointestinal problems
- Dry mouth
There is no cure for lupus. However, treatments aimed at improving quality of life among lupus patients.
Anyone with at least four criteria on the list below is likely that they have lupus.
