Incorporating Exercise Into Colitis Treatment

Don't forget to warm up and hydrate

Warming up and cooling down are important for protecting your muscles. You should dedicate 5 to 10 minutes before and after every workout to warming up and cooling down. This allows your musculoskeletal system and nervous system time to adjust while your activity level changes.

Hydration is always important whether you are working out or not, but especially during times of high activity. When you have UC, this becomes even more important because of the amount of water that can be lost with diarrhea. It is recommended that people drink 16 ounces of water before working out, and then rehydrate again afterwards.
