Statistical data can be very confusing to read and interpret, and when you have medical providers telling you that this data means that your child is at risk, it can be very alarming. This area of research is certainly something for the medical community and researchers to keep track of and continue to study, but alarming mothers based on limited data from a slightly flawed study can do more harm than good. Parents and providers should always be encouraged to be aware of and monitor the health of their children. The harm that could come from stressing out a pregnant woman when it is not necessary can negatively impact her health, the health of the fetus, and the health of the family unit overall.
