Updating cancer registries will prove to be a huge help
Currently, the research team is striving to update the Familial Ovarian Cancer Registry and improve the understanding of existing family histories with ovarian cancer and testicular cancer. “Our research group has begun conducting follow-up studies aimed at better understanding this association, its genetic basis and its potential impact on our understanding, prevention and treatment of these diseases,” said Moysich. More specifically, they are looking into finding families with several cases of ovarian cancer and at best, one case of testicular cancer. “These analyses may provide insight into the etiology of transmission patterns of both cancers and expose novel gene targets for prevention and therapy” wrote the authors.
