Living as a Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Survivor: The Importance of Follow-up Care

Life during treatment

Cancer treatment is a rough process, regardless of the specific type of cancer a patient is being treated for. Though a lot of the well-known side effects, such as nausea and vomiting, dissipate when treatment is ended, there ae some effects of chemo that can have a lasting impact after treatment. These include fertility status for female patients, and problems with memory or brain fog.

These extended side effects are referred to as long-term side effects. It’s both important to discuss the potential long-term side effects with your physician before treatment begins, and be vocal about them if and when they do occur. Although things such as exercise and a healthy diet have not been proven to improve cancer outcomes, they help keep your body healthy in general and can help ease the process of repair from aggressive cancer treatments.
