Living as a Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Survivor: The Importance of Follow-up Care

The importance of health insurance after treatment

Health insurance is important for everyone, but especially anyone currently battling or who previously suffered from cancer. Even after your treatment is complete, it’s extremely important to maintain your health insurance. You’ll need insurance to help cover the crucial follow up doctor's’ appointments, any maintenance medical tests, and worst case scenario, treatment for cancer recurrence.

A key component to maintaining the necessary health insurance is to keep your own copies medical records. Even while in remission, it’s important that any future physicians know about your cancer and the treatment you underwent because it could impact medical decisions later on. It’s important to let physicians know about your cancer history, and the records are important to have so they can see any details. Your former doctors may not always be able to communicate this information for you.
