Lupus and Alcohol: What's the Risk?

This particular study wanted to see if moderate alcohol consumption could be beneficial for lupus patients

In a nursing cohort analysis, the objective was to discover if moderate alcohol consumption, with its anti-inflammatory properties and reduced cardiovascular disease propensities, would do the same for lupus.

Approximately 204,055 participants who did not have lupus were asked to drink alcohol, moderately, and establish a baseline. As they drank alcohol on a regular basis, the study used a food frequency questionnaire every 2-4 years. After every survey, the study validated incidents of lupus through medical records. Again, the test was to see if alcohol had any effect on causing lupus or preventing lupus.
