MLB Athlete Donates $3.5 Million to Fight Childhood Cancer

Who is Anthony Rizzo?

If you haven’t heard of Anthony Rizzo, you’ve probably heard about what he does out on the baseball diamond. Rizzo is a star player for the Chicago Bears, and played a key role in their curse-breaking World Series win in 2016. What you may not know about Rizzo is that, as a teenager, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Hodgkin’s lymphoma (HL) impacts thousands of children each year, and accounts for approximately 40% of all pediatric lymphomas. As part of his treatment, Rizzo underwent six months of chemotherapy. Fortunately, HL is highly curable and very responsive to chemotherapy treatment, and Rizzo recovered from his cancer and has been in remission since his teens.
