According to NFA, approximately 10 million people in the United States suffer from fibromyalgia, and 3-6% of the world's population also suffer from the chronic pain disorder. The disease is most seen in women, and this is prevalent in 75-90 percent of those with fibromyalgia. But, this doesn't mean that it doesn't occur in men and children. Typically, patients are diagnosed between the ages of 20 to 50, but the risk is greater with age.
