Her symptoms pointed to goiter, an enlarged thyroid

In Dr. Rivas' case report, they presented a woman who was evaluated for thyroid malfunction. The woman, being 66 years old, often complained of recurring gastrointestinal pains, intermittent diarrhea and constipation, and persistent memory loss. The woman also had a manifested case of goiter and was treated using radioactive iodine and thyroid replacement therapy. But, the results of this diagnosis was long treatment process that did absolutely nothing for her.
