Medical Mystery: Thyroid Resistance in Fibromyalgia

Widespread, chronic pain is the most common symptom of fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia can be caused by a number of different factors, but one common characteristic of fibromyalgia is the amount of pain it causes for the patient. This pain is usually prominent, chronic, and widespread. Patients can also experience symptoms that are similar to rheumatic diseases (in fact, fibromyalgia was categorized as a disease because of the American College of Rheumatology). This can include joint pain, fatigue, sleep issues, hormonal imbalances, and psychological disorders like depression and anxiety.
