4. Being eager to compromise, not eager to win
There’s a time to stand your ground and hold on to your beliefs, and a time to let go of your stubbornness. Knowing the difference and being willing to compromise is another characteristic people look for when they date. It can be difficult for many individuals to meet someone halfway, especially when it concerns an issue of importance to them, such as political views or one’s thoughts on marriage and having children. But a healthy relationship requires both partners to be able to give and take, so it’s an important skill to possess.
Compromise is also a sign of maturity and selflessness, as you’re able to put someone else’s wants or needs before your own. Capitulating on every issue and completely abandoning your personal beliefs is not wise, but concerning smaller decisions, people find it more attractive if you’re willing to let go of the “my way or the highway” attitude.
