The future of Alzheimer's
Nowadays, over 5 million individuals in the United States have Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, this number is estimated to triple by the year 2050. “The findings suggest that the retina may serve as a reliable source for Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis. One of the major advantages of analyzing the retina is the repeatability, which allows us to monitor patients and potentially the progression of their disease” said lead author, Maya-Koronyo Hamaoui.
