New Type of Sweat Test Revealed to Diagnose Cystic Fibrosis
The first step in any medical situation is reaching a clear diagnosis. Proper testing for an illness is necessary for accurate diagnosis. Some tests are simple, while others are complex. Cystic fibrosis is an illness that requires multiple tests to confirm its presence. Early detection of this condition is important as it makes for better outcomes for the patients. The most traditional test done after a positive blood screening is the sweat test. It tests chloride levels of abnormal rates that indicate cystic fibrosis. These tests, however, are not foolproof and they do not show the disease progression. For these reasons, science is looking for better ways to test for the disease. Researchers have found what they feel may be the answers.
