One Transgender Man’s Story of Getting Breast Cancer

Sexton still returns to the UW Health facility for periodic testing and after withdrawing during his cancer treatments, he is becoming more and more social. “It was kind of just surviving and going through the motions, without being a wreck” he said. Sexton choose to share his personal experiences as a transgender individual in order to persuade others who might feel ashamed or reluctant to seek medical care to do so whenever necessary. “Transgender people should know that these things do happen, and you have to get it taken care of, have it checked out. Go somewhere where you feel safe,” he said.
