Pro Athlete Jake Diekman Recovers From Ulcerative Colitis Surgeries

UC didn’t stop Jake from his passion

UC didn’t stop Jake from his passion

Jake Diekman didn’t stop playing baseball while living with ulcerative colitis for 20 years.

From Wymore, Nebraska, Diekman was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at the age of 10. He had a passion for sports, especially baseball and golf. His symptoms subsided while he was a teenager, so he was able to continue playing. He went on to play baseball during college and was eventually drafted in 2007 to play for the Philadelphia Phillies, becoming the third reliever in the team history to strike out 100 batters in just one season.
