Emotional well-being is the most important element of overall wellness. - Staying centered - An MS diagnosis can threaten your sense of self, questioning who you are and how your role in life has changed. By staying connected to your feelings, values, and priorities, you can stay centered in the face of challenges relating to MS.
- Manage stressing – Stress is a part of everyday life and an MS diagnosis can sometimes contribute to that overwhelming feeling. Learning to eliminate unnecessary stressors and managing the ones that are inevitable is vital to supporting your overall health and well-being.
- Paying attention to your mood – Anxiety, depression, and other mood changes are far too common in individuals living with MS. The best approach is to be kind to yourself and to pay attention to whatever it is that you are feeling. You should not feel pressured to feel a certain way because your mood is unique to your situation.
- Recognizing family needs – MS affects everyday life, including roles and responsibilities. Recognizing family needs can enforce support, connection, and positive relationships, thereby reducing feelings of isolation and promoting a sense of stability in daily life.
