Research Reveals Cystic Fibrosis Severity Is Linked to Fungus
And more research will continue ahead
The new data presented by AIT Therapeutics will support the notion that nitric oxide is a viable and promising treatment option in helping to ward off MABSC lung infections and to improve patients’ symptoms. In the first poster, given the title “High-Dose Inhaled Nitric Oxide as a Potential Therapy Against Mycobacterium abscessus Lung Infection in Cystic Fibrosis”, the researchers will discuss the antimicrobial activity of nitric oxide on the multi-resistant MABSC. In the second poster, given the title “Treatment of Refractory Mycobacterium abscessus Lung Infection with Inhaled Intermittent Nitric Oxide”, the researchers will discuss a particular study involving an CF patient with an MABSC infection, who was given nitric oxide under the U.S. FDA’s compassionate use program.
