Roundworms May Be the Answer to Alzheimer's Disease

Researchers used these worms to find therapeutic targets in humans with Alzheimer's

Researchers made a worm model of neurodegenerative disease. Then, they inserted a gene that triggers the worm to show one of the toxic proteins similar to Alzheimer’s. As observed by researchers in the experiment, the worm developed paralysis, delayed swallowing and other related symptoms.

The researchers can make use of the worm model they made to scrutinize any genes or compounds, which changes the toxic effects of the progression of diseases in the worm. Researchers called this a breakthrough, mainly in finding therapeutic targets in humans.
