Anxiety May Heighten Social Communication Challenges in Autism

Identifying ways to ease anxiety associated with autism

Currently, Greaves-Lord and her fellow colleagues are testing a Dutch version of a therapy called PEERS in people with autism. The therapy is intended to improve the social skills of adolescents and young adults with autism. It may also help to alleviate anxiety in the process. Eventually, the research team hopes to identify how this therapy and similar treatments may help to ease anxiety associated with autism.
