Synthetic Marijuana May Be Effective to Reduce Sleep Apnea Symptoms

The differences between the two types

For obstructive sleep apnea, the disruption of breathing is the result of a blockage in the patient’s airways.  This often occurs because of the soft tissue located in the back of the throat collapses while the patient sleeps.  Of the two different types of sleep apnea, obstructive sleep apnea is the most common.  As for the other type, central sleep apnea occurs when the brain essentially fails to relay the proper signal to the muscles in order to breath, resulting in short periods of no oxygen.  This occurrence is the cause of apparent instability in the functioning of the respiratory control center.
