Teen Raises Funds for Alzheimer’s Research in Her Grandmother’s Memory

Doctor rely on early detection to delay symptoms, but most cases are diagnosed in advanced stages

Survival is highly dependent on early detection, however, most patients are diagnosed once the disease is in its mid to late stages when symptoms manifest. It's not surprise that the actual life expectancy can be higher if Alzheimer's is identified and diagnosed early on.  

Research has brought us closer to methods that can help to slow the progress of the disease. But, when it comes to producing an actual cure, we are still as far as we’ve ever been.

"There's never been a survivor from it," Carlie said.
