The Challenges of Being Catholic with Celiac Disease

But still, consult with a doctor

With this information in mind, it’s important for celiac patients or those who cannot tolerate gluten to consult with their doctor with regards to consuming low gluten communion hosts.  If possible, they should test out the low-gluten communion host by requesting a few unconsecrated hosts and sampling them. If everything is good after sampling the hosts, ask that any low-gluten communion hosts be stored in a separate area from the regular hosts to prevent cross-contamination.
