Cystic Fibrosis: The Challenging Role of Caregiver

Managing caregiver stress

As a caregiver, it’s important to care for yourself as well as your patient. Managing stress is one of the best things you can do for both yourself and the individual you are caring for. Some of the ways you can manage stress include:

  • Making physical and mental health screenings regularly
  • Getting at least 30 minutes of exercise a day
  • Practice mindfulness, meditation, yoga, or anything else to get your mind of caregiving for a moment
  • Eating fruits and vegetables and steering clear of unhealthy foods
  • Getting outside for a walk and embracing nature at least once during the day
  • Asking for help when you need a break and not being too proud to say you need help
