Being less able to do various tasks due to disability means not only an inability to perform regular household tasks but could also mean less economic stability in the workplace. Furthermore, rheumatoid arthritis is a medical condition that can be expensive. A trip to the hospital due to a flare could be enough to put a dent in anyone's budget. Medications aren't cheap either, especially if the person needs a newer biologic to keep symptoms at bay. Economic hardship, strained relationships, chronic pain, and loss of independence are all things that directly contribute to a decline in quality of life and risk of depression.
