The Emotional Rollercoaster of Fibromyalgia

If you have a partner, talk!

Patience is important while coping with fibromyalgia, especially when it results in less intimacy. However, you and your partner should not let fibromyalgia stop you from being intimate with your partner, which is why talking with them will help him or her understand you and the amount of pain you feel.

Talking is crucial to let your partner feel that you are still there for them. You also have to encourage them to voice out their feelings, whether it may be physical or emotional. This can help clear out the feelings of guilt and depression that are lurking somewhere in your mind, and of course, take the weight off your partner’s mind. Communication also prevents them from thinking that they can’t speak about their feelings properly. Without proper communication, misunderstandings and a feeling of neglect might make the relationship turn sour.
