The NBA Makes Space for Autism

Then, the NBA store in NYC became the first sensory-inclusive retail store

In May of 2018, the NBA’s flagship store located on Fifth Avenue in New York City, opened its doors to World Autism Awareness Day and became the first sensory-inclusive retail store in the world.  The store now includes customized products for children with sensory issues, such as sensory bags filled with noise-cancelling headphones, fidget spinners, and much more. “It’s not necessarily geared just to children or just to individuals with autism. It’s a space that is available for any of our guests to go and have an opportunity to regulate or have some quiet time,” said Bonavita.
