How did the study work?
Researchers reported that they were careful to take into account of other factors that could have affected this result. One way that they did this was by analyzing and eliminating people from the study if they developed Alzheimer’s within 5 and 10 years of retirement. For France, these results were particularly useful as people in certain professions are required to retire at certain ages. But, what if continuing to work could actually benefit their health? For people in professions, such as civil engineering, who are required to retire at 65, this knowledge could help the government change their rules to accommodate individuals who wish to keep working.
