Helping misunderstood diseases

Disorders like lupus are often misunderstood.  Unless serious complications arise, many patients look perfectly healthy on the outside while on the inside, it’s a whole different story.  Nick Cannon once spoke about that very thing when he told a reporter about looking perfectly fine and healthy for the interview, but he knew that it took him over 30 mins to get himself out of bed that very same morning.

When celebrities like Canon and Gomez openly talk about their own battle with lupus and how it affects their day to day lives, it provides concrete real-life examples of how the disease works and what it can do to a body.

In other words, the more they share, the more people will understand about lupus.  Since lupus is such a wide-ranging disease that affects every person differently and has a very large number of symptoms, it’s critical that lupus is depicted properly.  Real life examples, especially from those who are more powerful than others, will not only provide a clear idea of the disease but will also help to prevent misconceptions from forming.
