Surgery that involves the roof of the mouth
Palatal advancement pharyngoplasty
This involves the removal of the bone on the roof of the mouth and plastic surgery of the hard palate. In this, the area of bone near the soft palate is removed and pulled forward. Then, sutures are applied.
In this procedure, the soft palate is divided into two halves, and each half is pulled forward and sewn. It is more useful in cases that have already undergone a tonsillectomy. This procedure is more characterized with complications like difficulty with swallowing.
