How habituation can help with dizziness
Habituation exercises can help patients who are experiencing the symptom of dizziness due to problems with self-motion. Habituation exercises are often helpful for patients who experience an increase in dizziness whenever they walk, bend over, or turn their head in different directions. Habituation exercises can also help patients who feel dizzy whenever they are in environments that are highly visually stimulated, such as in large crowds or watching action movies.
The goal of habituation exercises is to reduce the amount of dizziness that a patient experiences by slowly become habituated to stimulating activities. Once the patient can handle one activity without dizziness, they can then move on to more stimulating activities or severities.
