Other rights pertaining to diabetics
There are also a variety of other scenarios or situations that would call to question whether or not an individual’s right have been violated. One such question is if an employer can request a medical exam. The answer depends on the job itself and/or certain situations. An employer, for the most part, has limitations on when and why to request an exam. One of those situations is when an employee returns to work after an extended medical leave. The human resources personnel can request a copy of a doctor’s release to go back to work.
In addition to returning to work, an employer can request a medical exam if there have been incidents where safety is at stake due to severe hypoglycemia or some other complications. Otherwise, exams would be limited to the process for establishing reasonable accommodations or an employment physical.
