Using Art and Creativity to Fight Multiple Sclerosis

A confusing diagnosis

It started in her early teens with headaches that would last for weeks, and fatigue that would make getting out of bed a challenge every single day. On top of that was the pain. As if being a teenager isn’t hard enough. Caitlin knew that this was not normal and with the help from her family she sought out medical help. Unfortunately, everyone she saw was either baffled by her mysterious symptoms, or just wrote her off and didn’t take her seriously. Caitlin recalls the feelings hopelessness and helplessness that she experienced during this time. Professionals who didn’t take her seriously told her that this was probably just part of puberty. This certainly did not make her teenage years any easier. When she was finally diagnosed with MS, those feelings of utter helplessness went away.
