Using Music to Help Unlock Alzheimer's Patients' Memories

How does it work?

The Music and Memory Program promoted by CBS does not focus on the senses such as smell and sight that are able to “light up” only a small part of the brain. Instead, it looks for a wider target by stimulating the ability to hear and listen to something specific.

The part of the brain that can be lighted up via stimulation of the hearing sense seems to remain untouched in most cases, although some areas of the brain tend to deteriorate due to Alzheimer’s.
