Shingles is Contagious
Shingles may also develop in immunocompromised individuals or in those suffering from immune diseases.
- The infection is contagious. Individuals infected with Varicella-Zoster virus can transmit the virus to other individuals, especially children in which the virus can cause chickenpox.
- The virus is spread from liquid bursting from erosion of blisters. Patients at this stage should be kept isolated and the blisters must be kept covered until they are dried out.
