  • Severe pain followed by characteristic rash on either side of the body is the hallmark of shingles. The rash typically appears in a striped formation.
  • Once the individual becomes infected, severe pain along with itching occurs for about 1-5 days after which rashes start to appear on skin.
  • The rash may also appear on face or throughout the body.
