Why Banning Drinking Straws Upsets Muscular Dystrophy Patients
While this ban was made with the best intentions, it wasn't made with disabled individuals in mind
All of these bans have been created with the best of intentions. These new regulations are intended to be a proactive step in improve the disastrous effect that plastic waste has on the planet. By now, most people have seen at least some Facebook video documenting the devastating state of the polluted bodies of water, poisoning local sea creatures. Something must be done, but is the answer in these plastic straws? And is it in everyone’s best interest for there to be such a sweeping ban? One thing is for sure, these new regulations have made the lives of Daniel Gilbert and other people like him much more difficult.
