Young Girl Overcomes Crohn's to Run Marathons

Esther's new diet to keep symptoms under control

Esther's new diet to keep symptoms under control

It’s not really known exactly what triggers Crohn’s, or let alone what causes it in the first place. It seems that diet and stress might make things worse, but they are by no means proven to be a cause for the disease.

From experience, it seems that following simpler diets helps people with Crohn’s. For example, fast foods and processed foods seem to make things worse for these patients. Some people find that specific diets help them reduce inflammation and flares. There might even be different trigger foods for different people, almost like a specific allergy or sensitivity. For Esther, she had some triggers that she identified in her disease. To feel her best, she has had to cut out all alcohol, fried foods, beans, granola, and even greens.
