Jerome Levitch, or Jerry Lewis as what he was famously called, was born on March 16, 1926. The world adores him for being a comedian, actor, singer, producer, director, screenwriter, and a humanitarian. He was born in Newark, New Jersey with parents of the Russian-Jewish descent. Daniel Levitch, Jerry’s father, was a famous master of ceremonies and a vaudeville performer who had a stage name of Danny Lewis.  Rachel Levitch, Jerry’s mother, was a piano player for a radio station. At the very early age of 5, he was seen performing alongside with his parents. At the age of 15, he developed his “Record Act” and worked with the stage name Joey Lewis but later changed it to Jerry Lewis to avoid confusing his name with other comedians and athletes.
