Georgia Police Officer Battles Breast Cancer with Grace
The diagnosis that would change their lives.
However, the family’s lives changed back in December 22nd of 2017 when doctors discovered a 5-centimeter mass in Becky’s breast. It was stage 3 breast cancer and it had spread to her lymph nodes and into her bloodstream. “I got the diagnosis 2 days before Christmas” she recalled.
Becky was blindsided by the late diagnosis after contemplating that something was wrong for over a year. She informed doctors that she was experiencing abnormality in her breast tissue, but they brushed it off as being a muscle strain from firing her service weapon. During her next doctor’s visit one year later, her mammogram results revealed otherwise. “And I, it was, just, everything stopped” said Becky.
