Cystic Fibrosis Treatment Can Be Overwhelming: Here's How to Prepare

The importance of how the truth is delivered

Do doctors think about how patients will handle the truth?

Everyone has different ways that they liked to be talked to and comforted. Some people like the truth straight forward, with no beating around the bush, while others like bad news sugar-coated and portrayed as prettily as possible. If you like it blunt, there's a high likelihood that you'll run into doctors who will give you information exactly how you want it. Unlike with other doctors, you won't feel like you have any sort of friendship, but their bluntness will make you feel comfortable with them and the fact that they are telling the truth.

However, it is important to bear in mind that if they have to deliver bad news to you, you may start to miss having a doctor with a kinder bedside manner. If you prefer having someone hold your hand through tough procedures and updates, you know you are not going to get it from this doctor, so make sure to bring a close friend or family member you can rely on so you have a support system that won't necessarily come from your doctor.
