Birth Control Pills Linked to Decreased Risk of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Birth Control Pills: More about the study

More about the study

Previous studies have shown that rheumatoid arthritis is much more common in women than men, which has made many researchers study what can lower risk in many of these women. Previous research has determined that hormonal and reproductive factors are often the cause of the higher incidence of RA in women than men. This led researchers at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden to conduct a study on the effects that certain actions women take, including breast feeding and taking contraceptives, have on decreasing the risk of RA.
