Holistic Approaches to Lymphoma Treatment

Socializing while living with lymphoma

A common complaint from many cancer patients is that their social lives suffer as a result of the disease. They may be physically weaker and not able to participate in certain activities as often (or ever). Socializing is a very important aspect of someone's health, as loneliness can actually be very harmful mentally and even physically.

Socializing as a lymphoma patient is all about forgetting the past things you could do and focusing on the things you can do now. You may not be able to go out biking with your friends every weekend, but you might be able to meet them at a restaurant after for some dinner. You might not be able to play certain sports either, but you might be able to convince some of your old playing buddies to meet up and watch a game on tv. Anything that gets you out there talking to the people you love being around will improve your mood. Studies have also shown that talking with other survivors or patients who have gone through some of the same struggles actually increases the chances of recovery and remission. You should try and find a lymphoma support group in your area and attend a meeting. You would be surprised how great it feels to be able to talk with someone who understands exactly what you are going through.
