How to Tell if Someone Has Lupus

Gastrointestinal Problems

Some lupus patients experience occasional acid reflux, heartburn, and some other gastrointestinal problems. Over-the-counter antacids can treat mild symptoms. Lupus patients with frequent bouts of heartburn or acid reflux should avoid beverages that contain caffeine and reduce the size of their meals. They should also avoid lying down after eating. When symptoms persist, they should seek medical attention to rule out other illnesses.
