How to Tell if Someone Has Lupus

Skin Lesions and Rash

Sometimes a butterfly-shaped rash might appear on the nose’s bridge, and cheeks and 50% of lupus patients have this rash. This is the most visible symptom of lupus. This rash can appear when exposed to sunlight or sometimes it might appear suddenly. Sometimes it might appear before flare-up starts. Non-itchy lesions can appear in other parts of the body. Lupus can also cause hive, but this doesn’t always happen. Many lupus patients are sensitive to artificial lighting or the sun. Some may experience discoloration in the toes and fingers.
