What does it all mean for future diagnosis?
In the future, the noninvasive retinal imaging technique may lead to early diagnosis and proper monitoring of Alzheimer’s disease. Still, further research needs to be conducted to fully grasp the severity of symptoms associated with AD years prior to their onset. Researchers are continuously working to uncover many aspects relating to Alzheimer’s disease and other related neurological disorders. Around 90% of findings have been uncovered within the last 20 years and remarkable progress has been made in revealing how AD affects the brain. Around the world, promising research is currently underway and there is hope that with better understanding and innovative approaches, not only will new treatments be discovered but the onset of AD may be prevented early on.
