Water Sports

Swimming and other types of water sports are good therapies for people with MD. Water’s buoyant nature will help to mitigate the effects on the joints and patients will find it easier to move and be active in the water with significantly less pain. Swimming is an all over workout that many enjoy because it is at once a pleasant activity, but it also works every muscle in the body. It is especially helpful to MD patients as it not only encourages the muscles to move thus keeping them strengthened, it also encourages the circulation and respiratory systems of the body and maintains the heart rate.
