Managing Chronic Pain with Fibromyalgia

Today, doctors and patients have a strained relationship

Patients are not alone. Busy doctors try to see as many patients as they can, and this is true for doctors who even work in a hospital. Often, they think of the pain in terms of severity rather than how widespread it is.

With the increasing popularity of self-diagnosing websites, doctors are now trying to reduce the fear that lives in the eyes of patients who come in with website printouts suggesting that their tonsillitis may be throat cancer. Now, many doctors have the reputation of being uncaring because of how quickly they need to move through appointments, silencing well-meaning, if not misinformed, questions and concerns from anxious patients. This is not only frustrating, but it puts a strain on the doctor-patient relationship.
