• Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) –  FSHD affects boys' and girls' muscles in the face, shoulders, and lower legs. These symptoms start to appear in the teenage years or early adulthood.
• Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy (EDMD) – It causes problems in the shoulders, upper arms, shins, and joints. EDMD occurs mostly in boys and symptoms usually began in late childhood and as late as 25 years old.
• Myotonic dystrophy (MMD) – It usually began in teens in which muscles have difficulty relaxing and symptoms include muscle weakness, cataracts, and even heart problems.
