Amazing Girl With Muscular Dystrophy Expresses Creativity

More Types of Muscular Dystrophy

  • Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) –  FSHD affects boys' and girls' muscles in the face, shoulders, and lower legs. These symptoms start to appear in the teenage years or early adulthood.
  • Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy (EDMD) – It causes problems in the shoulders, upper arms, shins, and joints. EDMD occurs mostly in boys and symptoms usually began in late childhood and as late as 25 years old.
  • Myotonic dystrophy (MMD) – It usually began in teens in which muscles have difficulty relaxing and symptoms include muscle weakness, cataracts, and even heart problems.
  • Congenital muscular dystrophy (CMD) – This disease is for babies and children who shows the signs of weak muscles and poor muscle tone. CMD affects both girls and boys.

Although MD mostly affects boys, it is not rare for girls to be diagnosed with the disease. Those diagnosed with it may find it difficult to handle and hard to accept, but one little girl will teach you that no disease, not even Muscular Dystrophy, can stop you from pursuing what you love.
