Potential Therapy May Help Muscular Dystrophy Patients Restore Breathing Capacity

Latest Research on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

A study that was posted in The Journal of Psychology has found new research and evidence that may show that enhancing up the breathing pattern via the brain can help improve and limit deficiencies in the respiratory capacity for those suffering from the disease. The lead researchers on the team from established universities were able to perform studies on mice lacking dystrophin. This is the muscle protein that does malfunction in those with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The mice were shown to have the features of those who have breathing problems and respiratory issues for those with DMD. Although more research is needed, this study can be beneficial to those who are looking for hopeful news and research.
